New beginnings

My very first post on my new blog. I'm a little bit more than excited.

This blog is in existence for a couple of reasons.
1) I love my school so much, I have to share what I'm doing with everyone.
2) I'd like to help anyone else thinking about getting a culinary degree.
So some facts.
  • I go to the Art Institute. I'm not saying which one, though it may be obvious.
  • I, as of this post, am in my 8th week of my second semester.
  • I'm going for an Associates degree for Baking and Patisserie.
  • I love my school and instructors so much.
  • This is the first semester I actually got to do some cooking in.
  • I am already signed up for next semester which starts January 13th.
  • I have a best friend who is in the Baking and Pastry program with me and he may guest blog sometimes.
I will play catch-up with my weeks, beginning with week 1, once every day until I get caught up. Then I will update once a week, probably mainly on the weekends. I will try to include pictures and at least one recipe on each post.
I may throw in some other posts that don't have to do with school as I am also going on a fitness journey. Since the classes I'm taking all have very high calorie foods, I'm going to be trying to get healthy. Which means new diet, new fitness regimen.

Also, just because I'm in the baking program doesn't mean I don't cook real food. Right now I'm in a Fundamentals class which teaches basics of culinary cuisine. I'm also going to be taking American Regional and Latin Cuisine. So there will be some strange foods occasionally.

So bear with me as I figure out my life, as I experiment and make messes, as I fabricate chickens (which I'm doing later on today. Yuck!).
